It’s the most wonderful time of year! If that were true you would always have the best holiday ever. I don’t know about you but a lot of times I just feel like it’s the most pressure-filled time of the year.
Want to make this your best holiday ever?
I have a secret….It’s not as hard as you may think it would be. You already have everything you need. Tinsel optional. Seriously though…
Last week a group of 15 amazing women joined each other to take the time, to pay attention, to listen, to pause, and to connect. This year’s Holiday ReFresh was just as amazing (if not more so) than the last two years! The message resonated with each of us because we felt it to to be real and true.
So what the heck did we talk about!?
Mostly we talked about the fact that it is crucial to be true to your own hopes, your own thoughts about the perfect Christmas, and what YOU WANT. The reason is that the rest of it leaves you empty. It may be totally amazingly awesome to take your kids to the tree lighting in Rockefeller Plaza or it may be your idea of torture. If we spend all our time making the “perfect” holiday by what we THINK we’re supposed to be doing it will never satisfy us and always leave us feeling a little empty- guaranteed.
What are we supposed to do?
Turn up the music, plug in the lights, and listen to your heart. Pause and allow your own intuition and desire to direct you. That is what I’m doing this year and it’s not perfect, no, not even close. But it’s way freaking closer than it has ever been because it feels truer for me. I’m not saying don’t try new things. Last year I even got into baking cookies. This is not something that I would’ve ever thought was enjoyable and the difference about it last year was I paid close attention to my own needs and stressors and accounted for them.
What will you do? How will you let the magic of the season be yours? What can you let go of that you think you’re supposed to do?
