The number of people blogging about and posting about bullet journals these days is really growing! It’s quite the rage on pinterest and instagram. I must admit I myself have gone slightly crazy. I am constantly finding inspiration for my bullet journal. It’s real and it’s official. I was bit by the bug. If you haven’t heard about this type of journaling, you’re missing out! Here is the original bullet journal website.
What is a bullet journal?
Essentially a bullet journal is an organizational system where you can keep everything from calendar, to meal plan, to do lists, and really anything you want all in once space. I also love that it allows me to draw and make pretty pictures, something I didn’t even know I liked until I started exploring it!
If you’ve seen me any time in the past 3 months you’ve probably gazed glossy eyed at the pages of my bullet journal and wondered what the hell is wrong with me. The answer is NOTHING- obviously I’m just busy being awesome and planning all the things all the time! Some background here is that I’ve been a stationery lover all of my life. It’s just so pretty and don’t even get me started on sharpies (which sadly I cannot really use in my bullet journal).
All the books.
I’ve used a traditional planner since my college days. Don’t worry I also use google calendar and a wall calendar and ALL THE NOTEBOOKS, I used legal pads for awhile, then these really cute little cardboard notebooks from staples. I was always carrying around so much. People started to laugh at me (well that’s true but I didn’t really care), and believe it or not my back hurt often from the weight of it all.
Now only one!
One of my favorite things about the bullet journal is that I could get one book that I totally loved. I could make it my own and get rid of the rest! No longer did I need to have all the notebooks and a planner. Because you can have one notebook and make your very own customizable calendar right in there. It’s the best.
I read about the bullet journal, I am pretty sure it was from Boho Berry. I still go there for lots of my bujo (see how into it I am I even use the shortened version (which search this hashtag and boom inspiration for days on instagram! Then I just jumped in, I ordered an awesome Leuchtturm Notebook- go grab yours at Amazon (I’ve watched them go on sale and scooped them up then!) My first was the squared journal and my second is dotted, what mattered more to me was the number of pages since I love it so much I cannot stop!
Then I ordered a set of these amazing pens, actually I may head over and get some more!
Then I got moving! My first journal was really all about learning and I don’t feel like I got the hang of it until over 2 months later. I’m still learning a ton but I’m really loving it.
My favorite things right now are drawing succulents (it’s okay to laugh- you won’t be the first!)
And figuring out new ways to incorporate living the life I really want to be living into this awesome journal!
There is so much more and I plan on sharing more but this post is just the start! Are you a bullet journaler? Have you heard about it? Thinking about trying? What’s holding you back or making you more interested? Would love to hear from you!
