Here’s hoping we all learned a thing or two in March! This post is inspired by one of my favorite bloggers over at Modern Mrs. Darcy. I love her blog and when I opened my inbox today I was instantly struck by how well this idea meshes with my goal setting and I thought heck I’m going to do it.
So here we are ladies and gents. The 5 things that I learned in March.
1. A supportive community is CRUCIAL. If we’re going to grow into all we can be we’re gonna need some major support from our peeps. That is so true and I’ve always known it. This is a huge part of why I started Small Steps, in the first place, to allow women the space to build meaningful communities. I was so happy this week when 6 awesome ladies from my previous job were able to come and join us for a ReFresh.
2. Things take time!
I’m super impatient. It’s not my favorite quality but we’ve all go things to work on ;). I completely understand why they say patience is a virtue. Sure not easy to come by and LOTS of things in life don’t come on my time clock. You’d think perhaps at this point I’d be used to it, okay with it, or at least know that sometimes we’ve got to wait. This month has been one of some minor frustrations and I’m realizing that a lot of them are because of my impatience.
3. S’well makes the best water bottles.
For real. I have one already and while I may or may not have an obscene amount of portable beverage containers I just got a second one from Chris as a present. Thank You very much. They’re amazing, no sweat and keep beverages cold (I’m talking freezing) for 24 hours and hot for 12 hours. Basically they’re magic and they’re super adorable. So worth the price!
4. Reconnecting and showing small acts of love with our partner is UBER important.
Just recently Chris and I had a few difficult “discussions” and then I got in the car and went to run an errand and as I was thinking about our life and all of the wonderful things we have I realized that our foundation is so strong and built on such sweet love. That’s not always easy to remember a song came on that I love while I was driving and the tears started flowing. After I got where I was going, I texted Chris a reminder of our love and it made such a difference for both of us. That’s something I just don’t do enough! How often do you find time to show love to your partner and rekindle the old flame in your busy days.
5. Exercise is non-negotiable.
I go back and forth with running. Sometimes it feels impossible to get out of my house. I’m also slightly a weather wimp at times but I’m realizing more and more with the way life gets busy and with two little boys that I NEED TO RUN. There is no way around it. I’m better, happier, and healthier when I do.
What about you what did you learn in March? Would love to hear from you!
Bring it April, I’m ready!
