It’s FRIDAY!!!!! And as I write this lovely update post to you I’m sitting at this coffee shop that I’m basically falling in love with. It’s just too cute. I want to sit here and take pictures all day because everything about it makes me happy 🙂
What I’ve been reading:
I finished Calling Me Home. And let me say this….if I thought I was enjoying this book in the beginning and the middle, holy moly for the end. I cannot express how much I LOVED the end of this book. It was the author Julie Kibler’s debut novel and yes Julie thank you to you, please keep writing.
I’m also still reading/ listening to on Audible…We Are Forgiven by A.M. Holmes. I’m really enjoying it. It’s funny because there is so much going on in the book and for the most part it’s somewhat disturbing but I find some of the lines laugh out loud funny. I still cannot stop thinking about when the young girl in the book goes to visit her grandmother (who is having trouble remembering her.) The grandmother asks her how college is to which the girl, Ashley, replies I’m in 5th grade and the grandmother tells her not to be discouraged. For some reason, I think this is awesome and hysterical and I’m becoming increasingly impressed with A.M. Holmes as an author.
I also just started a new book! My friend, Katie, bought me Scandals of Classic Hollywood: Sex, Deviance, and Drama from the Golden Age of American Cinema awhile back and I’m finally starting it. I’m loving it so far and mostly like getting into a genre I’ve never really read at all. Plus it’s fun reading books from good friends it warms your heart in a special way.
What I’ve been planning:
I have some great things in the work a part of the work I do is with college students and creating space for meaningful conversations about sexuality and spirituality and learning to live authentic lives as young people. I will keep you all posted but am really loving the possibilities that are on the horizon and have some great groups coming up!
February’s Mini ReTreat is going to rock FOR REAL. I am starting to really plan the details and already feel like it’s going to be just the mid winter dose of warmth and love we all need. The focus will be all about LOVE all sorts of love. God’s love, our love, romantic love, love…love….love. And guess what you need to sign up because YOU are going to LOVE it. :)
A new month of the Mid Week ReFresh is about to start. I’m so excited. I’m loving this theme of LOVE that has emerged and our weekly ReFreshes are going to rock this theme like whoa. I have a feeling we will all be leaving with all sorts of love for ourselves and others! This hour on Wednesday night with amazing women continues to be such a gift to me. You don’t want to miss.
What I’ve been listening to:
I’m still listening to The Crane Wife 3 from the Decemberist’s 4th album The Crane Wife. Can you believe this?! It just came on as I sat down to write this post on my Josh Ritter Pandora station (man I love that station and Josh Ritter.) I love this song as I said last week but let me say this, I love working to it. I don’t know why I just do – it makes me feel like I can conquer all things, here’s to that great feeling!
If you know me at all (even a little) you may know that Brandi Carlile is an artist I’m basically in love with. She is seriously unbelievable and the fact that I’ve had a few weeks now of this Friday update and no mention of her music yet is basically a sin. I’m always listening to Brandi and when I’m not I’m wishing I was. So I’m listening to Wherever is Your Heart, from her album Firewatcher’s Daughter (her most recent.) If you don’t know her or don’t know this album. You need to do yourself a favor and listen.
So yes there it is some of what I’ve been up to. And now I’m getting ready to do some old fashioned Friday grocery shopping and to cook some new things this coming week. Maybe what I’m cooking needs to become part of Friday update?!?
Happy Friday peeps.
Hope this weekend is filled with all the things you need and none of the things that drive you bonkers 🙂
