Whenever I hit a slump whether its after lunch or ahem first thing in the morning, I feel like man I gotta shake this and fast. Have you been there? The issue for me is what I want to do is to curl up on my couch and take a long winter’s nap. There are quite a few reasons I cannot do that. So I’ve researched (through years of personal trial and error) and realized that these 4 quick energizers work for me, give them a try :).
This one isn’t always easy but I swear it’s one of my favorites. I always get annoyed when people say energy builds energy mostly because I just get annoyed easy and also because it just sounds stupid BUT IT IS TRUE. I know even more annoying when things that are annoying are true. Get out for a walk (exercise + fresh air = major bonus energy points.) Exercise totally helps and I’m not saying you have to do 40 million push-ups but if you can- go you! I’m just talking about moving it. Somehow anyway. I used to love an after lunch walk with my work friends instead of sitting and chatting after we were done eating, it totally helped with the afternoon slump.
2. Cold Water
I love water so I drink a lot of it. I also love seltzer and add some fruit like a lemon or a lime and holy moly I’m a happy woman. In the afternoon especially I love a nice cold glass of water in an awesome class. It wakes me up, hydrates me, and gives me that extra little push I need. Plus the good thing about water is its good for you unlike a sugar drink or dare I say it caffeine- don’t get me wrong I love me some coffee too but something about cold water, yum.
Whether you’re in the car, in your office, or at home you can totally adapt this one to fit your location. Guaranteed you can find a friend to join in. Turn up your favorite tune and belt it out or dance a little, again moving your body even if it’s your voice seems to give me a quick pick me up. It’s also sure to give you a good laugh.
4. Have a snack.
I’m not gonna lie, a sweet treat is sometimes just enough to get me through. A few Hershey Kisses often do the trick or even a really yummy mint. But if your husband happens to make these delicious peanut butter chocolate chip cookies you may just want to nibble on one for a quick pick me up.
Healthy snacks work better in general but nothing wrong with treating yourself once in awhile. I love a piece of fruit or a handful of cashews or pecans as a pick me up :).
These are just 4 of my favorite ways to get some energy, what is your best trick?
