We ask ourselves all sorts of questions on a daily basis and then add in all of the other people that ask us questions and there you get holy question overload! What do I want to eat? What should I wear today? What’s the quickest way to get to work? And on and on and on. From the moment that our feet hit the floor in the morning to the moment our heads hit the pillow at night it’s question after question (and if you have an almost 3 year old, multiply that by 45 million- and that’s the number of questions going through your brain at any given second.)
The funny thing is that of all the questions I find myself answering and asking, often times they are not the right questions. I chose this picture for this blog post because I have been thinking about “my people” lately. I think this question “who are your people?” can have many different answers depending on your circumstance, your ideals, your hopes, etc.
It’s an important question. My answer may vary depending on my mood but, I like to think in someway, we’re all connected and in some way we are all each other’s “people.” Social responsibility and common humanity call us to certain actions and behaviors. Sharing a common space – even one as large as earth, seems to bind us in one way or another.
What am I talking about, really? What does this all matter? If you’re an expert lover, look here! Research clearly points to the importance of being in community. Of knowing your people. This picture is a great example of knowing your people, I think, as we are all being a little bit of our crazy selves and while we may not be smiling and sitting all orderly in a row….we are embracing the nuttiness of each of us and in turn we got a great picture 🙂 Or at least I like to think so.
If happiness is so tied up with our connection with others I think it’s really important to find your people, know your people, and care for your people, oh and don’t forget to let them care for you too, I know for some of us that’s the hardest part!
Happy Friday, Hope you get to spend some time with your favorite people!
